We refer to the Wikitravel pages for Denmark and Copenhagen for common information. Copenhagen is extremely safe and it is generally safe to walk around outside at all hours. There is one situation in which you should be cautious:
Please be alert when walking around in traffic, look around and make sure that you do not step in front of bikes. We do have special bike lanes (a double shoulder) that you should AVOID walking on.
All of us ride bikes, and we ride them fast!
We do not have agreements with any hotels. There are hostels, hotels and other accomodation possibilities in all price ranges located within walking distance of the conference venue. Use your favorite search engine to find something suitable.
Copenhagen Airport is the largest hub for Scandinavian Air Service, and has connections via many airlines to most major European cities. The best, cheapest and quickest (15 minutes) way to go from the Airport to the centre of Copenhagen is to take the Metro. Get off at Kongens Nytorv or Nørreport depending on your hotel location.
If you arrive via train, Copenhagen Central Station is located in the centre of the city.
Copenhagen has repeatedly been celebrated for its wide range of cuisine and excellent restaurants. Avoiding the worst tourist spots, it is very hard to find a bad meal.

The symposium, which alternates with the Algorithms and Data Structures Symposium (WADS), is a forum for researchers in the area of design and analysis of algorithms and data structures. We invite submissions of papers presenting original research on algorithms and data structures in all areas, including but not limited to approximation algorithms, parameterized algorithms, computational biology, computational geometry and topology, distributed algorithms, external-memory algorithms, exponential algorithms, graph algorithms, online algorithms, optimization algorithms, randomized algorithms, streaming algorithms, string algorithms, sublinear algorithms, and algorithmic game theory.
Contributors must submit their papers using the Easychair system. Submissions should not exceed 12 pages in Springer LNCS format including references. Additionally, a clearly marked appendix may be included; this appendix will not be regarded as part of the submission and will be considered only at the discretion of the program committee. We recommend that you use LaTeX2e together with the LNCS class file from Springer. Please check the Springer Information for LNCS Authors for additional information.
Papers submitted for review should represent original, previously unpublished work. At the time the paper is submitted to the symposium, and for the entire review period, the paper (or essentially the same paper) must not be under review by any other conference with published proceedings or by a scientific journal. At least one author of every accepted paper is expected to register and present the paper at the symposium. Symposium proceedings will be published in the "Lecture Notes in Computer Science" (LNCS) series of Springer.
A prize will be awarded to the author(s) of the best student- authored paper. A paper is eligible if all of its authors are full-time students at the time of submission. This must be indicated in the submission process.
SWAT 2014 will be held in central Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark.
The venue is Ingeniørernes Hus in the heart of the city, overlooking the harbour. It is close to a number of hotels, public transport and most of the major sights in Copenhagen.

SWAT alternates with WADS and has been held biannually since 1988.
There is a poster for the symposium available.

Social Events
There will be a number of social events as part of the conference. Besides those listed below, the conference venue is located in the center of Copenhagen, where there is a large number of sights, bars and restaurants that we can recommend. Check out the web site of Visit Copenhagen for more info.
Unless otherwise noted, costs for the social events are included in the conference fee.
Reception
Welcome reception for SWAT 2014 combined with goodbye reception for SEA 2014 at July 1st at 17:00. Takes place at Munkekælderen (monk cellar), one of the oldest buildings of the University of Copenhagen. In the past it was used to store food for students who studied at the university. One can still see the meat hooks that was used to mount whole oxes and pigs. Address: Munkekælderen, Nørregade 10, 1017 København K.
Excursion
The excursion will be a canal tour around Copenhagen harbour on July 2nd. There is time and possibility to go to the Tivoli Gardens in the evening after the excursion (but this is voluntary and not included in the fee).
Dinner
On July 3rd, we will have the conference dinner at the conference venue, IDA Mødecenter, in their restaurant overlooking the harbour.
